Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement of Man with Van Edgware

Man with Van Edgware is committed to conducting its business with integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out our approach to identifying, preventing, and addressing modern slavery and human trafficking risks within our operations and supply chains.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Edgware provides local and regional transport, removals, and related services. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom and rely on a network of employees, casual workers, subcontracted drivers, vehicle hire services, fuel providers, and suppliers of equipment and packaging materials. We recognise that modern slavery can occur in any industry, including logistics and transport, and we are committed to ensuring that our business and suppliers uphold safe, fair, and lawful working conditions.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. This policy applies to everyone working for or on behalf of Man with Van Edgware, regardless of location, contract type, or seniority.

We expect all individuals and organisations connected with our business, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and suppliers, to share our commitment to eradicating modern slavery. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may lead to termination of contracts, reporting to authorities, and other appropriate actions.

Supplier Standards and Due Diligence

Our suppliers play a critical role in helping us maintain high ethical standards. We seek to work with suppliers who demonstrate respect for human rights and comply with all applicable labour, employment, and health and safety laws. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we may request information regarding labour practices, recruitment processes, use of subcontractors, and compliance with modern slavery legislation.

We reserve the right to require assurances that suppliers do not engage in any form of modern slavery and that they, in turn, expect the same from their own supply chains. We prioritise long-term relationships with suppliers that can show transparency and continuous improvement in ethical practices.

Supplier Audits and Monitoring

To support our zero-tolerance stance, we conduct proportionate checks and audits of selected suppliers, particularly those considered higher risk due to the nature of their services, location, or use of temporary labour. These audits may include reviewing documentation, requesting self-assessments, and holding discussions with supplier representatives about their policies and controls.

Where concerns are identified, we will work collaboratively with the supplier to develop improvement plans with clear timescales. If meaningful progress is not made, or if serious violations are discovered, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.

Employee Awareness and Responsibilities

All individuals working for Man with Van Edgware are expected to support our efforts to combat modern slavery. We provide guidance to managers and staff on recognising potential indicators of exploitation, such as workers who show signs of coercion, are unable to speak freely, or appear to have restricted freedom of movement.

Managers are responsible for promoting a culture where ethical conduct is standard practice and where concerns relating to modern slavery can be raised without fear of retaliation. We do not tolerate victimisation of anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage anyone who has a concern about possible modern slavery connected to our business or supply chain to report it as soon as possible. Concerns can be raised internally with a line manager or senior manager, or through our established internal reporting processes. Reports may be made confidentially, and, where possible, we will respect the wishes of the person raising the concern regarding anonymity.

All reports are taken seriously and will be assessed promptly. Where appropriate, we will investigate, seek further information, and take suitable action, which may include notifying relevant authorities or regulatory bodies.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and requires continuous improvement. Man with Van Edgware is committed to reviewing this Modern Slavery Statement at least once every year, or sooner if there are significant changes in our operations, legal requirements, or identified risks.

As part of the annual review, we will assess the effectiveness of our policies, supplier checks, and training efforts, and we will update our approach and procedures where necessary. By regularly reviewing and strengthening our controls, we aim to ensure that our business and supply chains remain free from modern slavery and that we continue to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
